On May 7, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Executive Director of the “Turkmenistan-US” Business Council Erik Stewart and the head of the well-known golf course design firm –“Nicklaus Design” (USA) Jack Nicklaus. Within the framework of an interest-based exchange of opinions on prospects of the development of long-term successful interaction, the fruitful activity of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council was particularly noted. The Council renders direct assistance in organizing regular business meetings, forums, exhibitions of goods of famous US companies, and many other events, which make it possible to define the most important areas for cooperation between the two friendly countries. The fact that new members are constantly admitted to the Business Council testifies to the American side’s keen interest in establishing constructive cooperation with Turkmen partners. In the course of the meeting, the head of state and his guests discussed the implementation course of the agreements reached earlier, having expressed confidence that the positive experience gained over many years of joint work, would serve working out and realization of new interesting projects, including the ones in the field of sport, whose development comes forward as the most important area of the state policy. Applauding the achievements of Turkmen sportsmen in the world sports arena, Jack Nicklaus has stressed that the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia to hold the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan, the first of the Central Asian countries to host such a large sporting event, serves as clear evidence of our country’s growing international prestige. Expressing readiness of “Nicklaus Design” to provide all-round support to the development of such popular sport as golf in Turkmenistan, the company’s head reported on the ongoing work, given the proposals and remarks made earlier by the Turkmen leader. -With the help of our rich experience in this sphere we will build the best and high-quality golf court, Jack Nicklaus said, having assured that it will have been completed by the beginning of the Asian Games-2017.
