The President of Turkmenistan accepted the credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan

On May 29, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Abdul Malik, who presented the credentials to the head of state. Extending congratulations to the diplomat on assigning to the responsible post, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov wished him great success in his noble mission aimed at the intensification of the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership, successfully developing on the bilateral and multilateral basis, including within the scope of the largest international organizations and regional structures. During the meeting, a substantive and n interested exchange of opinions was held on the key aspects of interstate relations whose continued progress is directly encouraged by the established trust- and respect-based top-level dialogue, as well as by the two countries’ proximity or coincidence of positions on a number of important aspects of the international and regional policies. Confirming high interest his country evinces in the earliest implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline construction project, the Ambassador of Pakistan expressed confidence that realization of the TAPI project would not only promote the economic development of the countries participating in the project, but, would, first of the first, serve a powerful factor of peace and stability in the region. During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest also discussed a set of other questions related to diversification of the trade and economic cooperation. The traditional cultural and humanitarian ties were, and remain an important dominant of bilateral relations, the sides agreed. The interlocutors placed also special accent on the overriding role in the two countries’ relations of the UN-mandated international legal status of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the 20th anniversary of which the country will mark this year. Waving goodbye to the guest, the President of Turkmenistan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan expressed firm confidence in further strengthening of friendship and mutuality-based cooperation in the interests of the two countries’ friendly peoples.
