Last week, on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, Chairperson of Mejlis of Turkmenistan A.Nurberdyeva accepted credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Turkmenistan Mr. Lahssann Boufares. In the course of meeting, the guest was familiarized with the priority directions of home and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, the realization course of large-scale reforms initiated by the leader of nation and aimed at ensuring further prosperity of the people and promoting constructive interaction with the countries of the, including African countries. The diplomat was also informed about the achievements of Turkmenistan in science and education, health care, culture, sports and tourism. In the light of availability of wide opportunities for unleashing potential of the Turkmen –Algerian relations advancement, Mr. Lahssan Boufares expressed his country’s interest in intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan in both the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, first of all, with the UN. Assessing the prospects for furthering the fruitful trade-economic partnership, the diplomat noted availability of great potential in such areas as oil and gas, transport sectors, as well as power energy. Special consideration was given to the issues of establishing and advancing close relations in the cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as in the bilateral inter-parliamentary relations which promote strengthening of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. *** That same day, the Ambassador was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the issues of advancing the two countries’ interaction in different areas.
