On August 4, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov participated in the Country’s Cup football match organized in the reconstructed stadium “Kopetdag”. Sincerely congratulating the people assembled on opening of the reconstructed sport complex “Kopetdag “, the head of state noted that here all conditions are created for practicing different sports and for holding competitions of national and international levels. Wishing sportsmen great successes in competitions, the President of Turkmenistan handed to the footballers the «Kopetdag» emblem and keys to the «Hyundai» bus. Truly grateful to the leader of nation Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, on behalf of footballers and coaches of the «Kopetdag» team (Ministry of Interior Affair), the Turkmen President was presented with a football uniform. In memory of the event, the head of state put his signature on the football, which from now on will be a memorial exhibit of the «Kopetdag» sports complex, and posed for photographs with football players. The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Turkmenistan acted as a general customer of the capital reconstruction of the «Kopetdag» sports complex; and all construction and redevelopment works were accomplished by local specialists. Total area of the complex is over 11 hectares, which includes: a 26,503-capacity stadium circled with running tracks, sections for high and long jumping, as well as the grounds for trainings. The covering of running tracks is made of synthetic rubber as well as high technological and ecologically clean materials ensuring safety from traumas for sportsmen. In the territory of the complex there are outdoor sports grounds for football teams and the courts for standard “professional” purposes and a fitness hall. The sports complex also includes the facilities of modern infrastructure - shower, changing and coach rooms’, etc. In compliance with modern requirements, the stadium is provided with several entrances. After reconstruction, there a special light and sound system was installed. Lighting of the arena meets the FIFA standards established for televising the sport events. The entire adjoining territory of the complex is improved and planted with trees. The Football Federation of Turkmenistan was established in April, 1992. In 1994 Turkmenistan became a full-fledged member of the International Football Federation (FIFA), which today includes 209 countries of the world and the Asian Football Confederation (АFC), with 46 national associations. These days, in its reconstructed stadium (meeting all requirements of international standards) the team «Kopetdag» met with the team “Merv” in the second match to continue the contest to be admitted to the Cup of Turkmenistan. The first meeting of these teams was held in Bairamaly and ended 1:0 in favor of “Kopetdag”. Young and energetic players of “Kopetdag” immediately hurried at the rival. Their persistence and attacks lasted for 15-20 minutes, after which the players of Mary with great efforts could equal the game, and time and again tried to attack the host team. But the direct penalty to “Merv” was accurately made by halfback of “Kopetdag” М.Аnnagulyev. Thus, the score in the 30th minute was 1:0 in favour of the host team. In the 39th minute, the footballer of “Kopetdag” H.Ovezov counterattacked severely and taking advantage of the goalkeeper’s mistake, scored the second goal. The score did not change till the end of the game. 2:0 is a deserved victory of “Kopetdag” which will continue its fight for the right to be holder of the Cup of Turkmenistan in football!
