On August 4, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kentaro Sonoura and Director of the Division for Central Asia and Caucasus of the MFA’s Europe Department of Japan, Mr. Jun Nanazawa. In the frames of the interested exchange of views on the prospects of long-term cooperation, the parties welcomed the by-now progressive development of the Turkmen-Japanese relations. Joint projects, which were discussed and developed in the framework of regular business forums and bilateral meetings, have created a solid foundation for effective implementation of the existing large potential and diversification of cooperation in several key areas, primarily in the trade and economy, fuel and energy, transport, communications and agriculture sectors. Construction of the Gas-Chemical Complex for production of polyethylene and polypropylene, launched last year in the village of Keenly on the coast of the Caspian Sea, can serve as an illustrative industrial project in the field of high-tech natural gas processing. Moreover, given the Turkmenistan’s course for comprehensive industrialization and creation of multisectoral economy, Japanese companies tend to clearly express their readiness to share their scientific and industrial innovations and technologies in a variety of industries with partners. The Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan evinced deep interest of business and financial circles of the Land of the Rising Sun in cementing partnership with Turkmenistan. Mr. Kentaro Sonoura also thanked the Turkmen leader for special attention he gives to the issues of bilateral cooperation and its intensification, particularly at the expence of holding regular meetings and negotiations at various levels and in the light of the activity of the Turkmen-Japanese Friendship League under the Parliament of Japan. In conclusion, the head of state and his guests once again confirmed readiness of Turkmenistan and Japan to diversify the mutually beneficial strategic cooperation, having expressed firm confidence in furthering partnership relations based on the principles of friendship, trust and mutual understanding between the fraternal Turkmen and Japanese nations.
