On August 6, in the afternoon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov arrived in the Republic of Turkey on a working visit. At the Ataturk International Airport decorated with the two friendly countries’ State Flags, the Turkmen leader was welcomed by official dignitaries. In the evening, the head of Turkmenistan had a meeting with representatives of Turkey’s big business, which was organized at the request of Turkish entrepreneurs. Representatives of leading companies, not only of Turkey, but also of Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea, as well as members of Turkmenistan’s government delegation gathered in the “Dabarlar” Hall of the “Çiragan Palace” Hotel. Opening the meeting and welcoming the high Turkmen guest on behalf of the Turkish party, Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Exchanges of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Rifat Hisarciklioglu emphasized that it was a great honor for him and representatives of Turkey’s business community to welcome the head of Turkmenistan, known as one of the fastest-developing countries in the world. The meeting will enhance the successful development of large-scale cooperation, Mr. Rifat Hisarciklioglu said. Welcoming the meeting participants, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu for affording an opportunity of meeting with Turkish businessmen. This year, our country is widely celebrating the 20th anniversary of its neutral status, which has been re-confirmed by the United Nations Resolution in the current year. To mark the remarkable date, the festivities are to be held in December, the nation’s leader said, having invited the meeting attendees to take part in the upcoming events. Turkmenistan’s enormous natural resources, first of all, hydrocarbon resources, create favorable conditions for promoting mutually advantageous business relations, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said, having mentioned that the open-door policy pursued by the country is also of considerable significance. The head of state has also placed special accent on the practical implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. A number of world-known companies, including from Japan and the Republic of Korea, have evinced interest in participating in the TAPI project, said the head of state, having invited Turkish companies to join the project too. As the Turkmen leader has highlighted, 23 National Comprehensive Programs are currently being implemented in our country, as well as the sectoral ones, aimed to totally modernize and upgrade the economy, create strong and well-developed industrial infrastructure, improve the housing and social sphere. Turkish companies are also making a significant contribution to the projects implementation in the frames of the within-said programs. The first Turkish companies which started with modest investments and have been working in the Turkmen market for many years, have won widespread popularity and earned substantial profits. Giving arguments in favor of strengthening mutually advantageous partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has highlighted that the present macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan is characterized by steady and rapid development. In continuation of the subject, the head of state has stressed that the large-scale reforms are being carried out in all spheres, including in the legislative field, which ensures yet more investment attractiveness and reliability of our country for foreign investors. In particular, in 2014, investment-based funding of capital needs in the country was US $15, 700,000 thousand. At present, numerous perspective projects are well under way in the construction sector. The textile industry can serve as an example of innovative development, the nation’s leader said, having emphasized that several modern manufacturing enterprises have been built in the field jointly with Turkish companies. A number of textile complexes, cotton-spinning mills, clothing factories, tanneries are planned to be renovated and re-equipped. As the head of Turkmenistan emphasized, vast prospects for cooperation are offered in such important areas, as construction of new livestock complexes, introduction of the latest technologies into agricultural practices. In accordance with the National Program for regions’ development, a number of socio-cultural objects, including health facilities, educational institutions, culture houses are planned for construction in our country in 2015, the President of Turkmenistan said, having recognized the advisability of Turkish partners’ participation in realization of large-scale projects within the framework of the Program. The head of state has sorted out the transport-communications sector among the important areas of cooperation with Turkish businessmen in the light of investing capitals. Turkmenistan, the nation’s leader stressed, is carrying out an impressive body of work on diversifying its energy export routes to the world markets. The relevant work on tackling the issue of supplying the Turkmen natural gas to Turkey is already under way. One of the main objectives of the Turkmen state’s economic policy is to create favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said, having noted that the state aims to attract businessmen more actively to promote solution of the tasks of sustainable economic development. At the same time, representatives of Turkmen business are offered excellent opportunities for promoting their products and services in external markets, including in the construction sector. Having invited representatives of Turkey’s business circles to participate in the projects ongoing in Turkmenistan, the head of state has underlined that businessmen would surely succeed on the condition that they show an honest and responsible attitude to their work. During the meeting which was held in the open and constructive atmosphere, consideration was given to the prospects for further intensification of bilateral cooperation in its priority areas. Having confirmed willingness of Turkey’s big business to strengthen and expand its presence at the business-favored Turkmen market, the heads of leading companies put forward concrete proposals on promoting productive relations, including through the diversification of economic partnership.
