Now the regular work is carried out in our country on further popularization in the world of Turkmen horses, which have become the pride of our people. A great deal of work on the development of horse breeding, which is carried out in our country on the initiative of the head of Turkmen state, brings greater fame to the legendary breed, a phenomenon of the national and world culture - Akhalteke racers. The natural beauty and grace, faithfulness, highly developed intellect and unique talents of Akhalteke horses have been a source of inspiration for poets and artists for centuries. When the leader of nation finished riding, his grandson too, following the example of his grandfather saddled a racer called Gerchek and practiced riding on a hippodrome racecourse. There is no doubt that keen interest in horsemanship, which is observed presently among young generation in Turkmenistan, provides confidence that the national horse riding traditions will be successfully carried on and developed henceforth. Our national traditions are based on handing down spiritual values from generation to generation, including respect and boundless love for our national pride – the horse of paradise. In Turkmen folklore, as well as in the national literature, a horse is associated with a dream, an aspiration for the aim, inspiration and the notions of honor and dignity. This is obvious from the following verses of great poet and thinker Mahtumkuli Fragi: «A jigit will acquire the good name, but first he needs a racer…». Time has showed that the fame of Akhalteke horses will never fade, but will increase steadily, winning the hearts of all people who have seen them at least once.
