On the week bygone, on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A.Nurberdiyeva received the credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to Turkmenistan Mr. Mohammed Elias Muhamed Elhaj. In the course of meeting, the diplomat was familiarized with key aspects of Turkmenistan’s state development strategy in the modern epoch, as well as with the President-initiated large-scale socio-economic projects aimed at strengthening the country’s economic power and providing quality-of-life improvements to the population. Particular emphasis was placed on the reforms in the sphere of education and science that facilitate progressive advance of the state and its successful integration in the system of international relations. The plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Sudan was also acquainted with the institutional structure and areas of activity of the Turkmen parliament. In the course of views exchange on the prospects for interstate cooperation, availability of wide opportunities has been stressed for development of mutually beneficial cooperation. Trade and economy, culture and humanitarian fields were pointed out as the priority spheres of bilateral partnership. The proposal of establishing of inter-parliamentary relations was also discussed. In conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Elias Muhamed Elhaj expressed confidence that the relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Sudan will be successfully developed in the interest of the two friendly countries’ nations. *** That same day, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to Turkmenistan was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the ceremony of signing the Protocol on establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Sudan was held. The meetings of Mr. Mohammed Elias Muhamed Elhaj in the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan and State Concern “Türkmengaz” were centred on discussing the prospects for expansion of cooperation in the oil and gas sphere.
