Last week, the Turkmen capital hosted a regular (11th ) meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek Committee for trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation, in which heads and representatives of a number of state institutions, including sectoral ministries and departments of the two countries, took part. To participate in the meeting, a representative delegation of the neighbouring country led by Minister of foreign economic affairs, investment, and trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan E.Ganiyev arrived in Ashgabat. The significance of the present meeting was emphasized in the light of the future-orientated prospects of Turkmen-Uzbek relations encouraged, to a large extent, by regular meetings, high-level talks, and different-level delegations exchange. The agenda of meeting of the joint Türkmen-Uzbek Committee for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation included a wide range of issues of bilateral interaction, key areas of which were designated transit- transport and communications spheres, trade, and others. Members of the Committee paid special attention to the traditional humanitarian cooperation which rests upon the historically interrelated spiritual-cultural commonality of the two neighbouring people. By the outcomes of the present meeting, the relevant Protocol was signed.
