On October 6, in Turkmenistan was marked the Memory Day- national remembrance of heroes who have fallen in fields of battles of all wars, and also victims of the catastrophic Ashgabat earthquake of 1948. On the occasion of this mournful date national flags were lowered in the country and everywhere remembrance rites and Sadaqah passed. The main actions of the Memory Day in which President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov participated, took place in Ashgabat, in the Memorial complex «Halk hakydasy». President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov laid a wreath at the majestic monument «Ruhytagzym» to pay a tribute of memory to victims of Ashgabat earthquake of 1948 - one of the most powerful and destructive in the history of mankind. That tragic night the ruthless calamity torn off also the life of the grandfather of the Head of the State – Berdimuhamet Annayev, veteran of war of 1941-1945, teacher and educator who devoted his life to a noble cause of education of younger generation. Then the Leader of the nation laid a wreath at the monument «Milletiň ogullary», being the symbol of inextinguishable national memory of valorous sons of the native land. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov laid a wreath at the monument «Baky shöhrat», erected in honour of the soldiers - Turkmen nationals who fell in fight with fascism, and heroes who lost their lives in battles for freedom of the Fatherland. In the flower laying ceremony heads of committees of the Mejlis, deputy –chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers , khyakims of velayats and Ashgabat, heads of military and law enforcement bodies, ministries and departments, diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, representatives of public organisations, foreign companies, elders, youth, inhabitants and visitors of the Turkmen capital also took part. Numerous bunches of flowers cover in a few minutes marble slabs at the foot of monuments. After laying flowers at the pedestal of monuments, Leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and all participants of the ceremony proceeded to the special building for Sadaqah. Addressing the gathered, the Head of the State underlined that annually this day is celebrated as the Memory Day in Turkmenistan. Our debt is to remember and never forget those who fall victim of disastrous natural calamity, those who in struggle against enemies demonstrated unprecedented firmness, fidelity to the soldier’s duty, fidelity to their native land, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted. This day remembrance ceremonies and offerings took place both in the capital and in all velayats of Turkmenistan.
