President of Turkmenistan received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China

On October 25, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Mr Sun Weidong, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan who presented his credential to the Head of the State. Having expressed gratitude for taking the time to meet, the diplomat conveyed to the Turkmen Leader warm greetings from Mr Xi Jinping, President of the PRC, and cordial felicitations on the occasion of the landmark event, the 25th anniversary of the state Independence. Greeting the Chinese diplomat, the Head of the State extended congratulations on his appointment to the responsible post, and conveyed his best wishes to the highest authorities of the friendly country. Following up on the subject, the Ambassador stressed relevance and significance of the Turkmen Leader’s constructive proposals regarding energy security and ensuring reliable and stable transit of energy to world markets, environmental issues etc. Mr Sun Weidong placed a special emphasis on the fact that President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov initiated large-scale projects aimed at enhancing mutually beneficial economic ties and strengthening international cooperation through establishing the substantial transport and communications infrastructure. In this context the sides highlighted the role of China–Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran railway main, where the first trial run of the container train took place in the beginning of this year. The Head of the State stressed that this railway was an economically and commercially feasible project designed to exert a significant positive influence on stable and sustainable development of the region as a whole. Exchange of views on perspectives for cooperation in the sphere of transport and communications continued with the Chinese Ambassador stating the importance of the project for construction of Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Tajikistan railway trail that would extend then to China. The diplomat said that the Chinese side supported this significant initiative by the Turkmen Leader and was ready to take an active part in its implementation. In concluding, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Mr Sun Weidong reiterated to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov his felicitations on the occasion of Independence Day.
