On October 27, the entire country celebrated the major national holiday – glorious 25th anniversary of the Motherland’s Independence in the atmosphere of general enthusiasm. Early in the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument of Independence, the majestic memorial complex and a symbol of huge accomplishments in the Turkmen nation’s modern history. From early morning, thousands of Ashgabat residents gathered in the National Independence Park, including our compatriots from abroad, media representatives as well as numerous foreign guests, who came to share the overwhelming joy brought to the people of Turkmenistan by the great holiday. The President of Turkmenistan proceeded along the alley lined with valorous servicemen of the national army who were in the guard of honor. Then, the State anthem of Turkmenistan was performed. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov laid a wreath at the memorial tablet in front of the entrance to the Memorial Complex, which houses precious relics that retrace the nation’s centuries-old road to Independence filled with trials and tribulations. Following the Leader of nation, the ceremony participants laid wreaths and bouquets of fresh flowers. Thousands of people were moving towards the Monument in an endless and continuous stream, and soon the square in front of the complex turned into a colorful carpet of sweet-scented flowers showing the depth of the Turkmen people’s patriotic feelings for their independent native country.
