On October 27, Mejlis of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with members of a representative delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Murtaza Javed Abbasi, who had come on a visit to the Turkmen capital to join the celebrations in honor of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence. Having expressed his admiration for the large-scale festivities organized to mark the remarkable date, on behalf of his country the head of the Pakistani delegation offered sincere congratulations to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and the entire Turkmen nation and wished peace, prosperity, new impressive achievements on the road of independent development. During the meeting, a lively exchange of opinions was held on various aspects of the successfully developing interstate cooperation. In this context, the parties highlighted the importance of the huge Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project as well as projects aimed to build transnational transit-transport corridors that would facilitate the active economic integration of the region’s countries. Special emphasis was placed on the strengthening of interparliamentary relations as an integral part of constructive dialogue.
