Today, an action on the destruction of narcotic drugs and contraband tobacco products seized during special operations conducted by law enforcement and military authorities of Turkmenistan took place in a special complex on the territory of the Geoktepe etrap. The event was attended by the heads of the Mejlis and the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh, members of the Government, the State Security Council, representatives of public organizations, the healthcare sector, the media, as well as venerable elders.

The current action has become another clear demonstration that Turkmenistan is firmly fulfilling its international obligations in the field of combating drug trafficking in the context of the policy on strengthening the principles of a healthy lifestyle carried out under the leadership of the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Our country is a party to the UN Conventions on Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances, as well as a number of regional and international programs of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Union. The main task of the projects carried out in this direction is to consolidate efforts in countering drug trafficking, strengthen border control in order to prevent the smuggling of narcotic substances, provide technical assistance and training of law enforcement officers.

The participants were shown the seized narcotic substances, contraband tobacco and pharmaceutical products, after which the packed bags were sent one by one to the furnaces of special furnaces. Moreover, anyone could take part in this noble cause by personally throwing a bundle of contraband goods into the red-hot mouth of the furnace. According to the established rules, the entire burning process was controlled from beginning to end by law enforcement officers and authorized experts.

Continuing the initiatives initiated by the Hero-Arkadag, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov identified the fight against illicit drug trafficking as one of the priorities of foreign and domestic policy. Turkmenistan takes an active part in the uncompromising struggle against this global problem of humanity and in this it can serve as a worthy example for many States.

Melodies and songs performed by the music collective of the Ministry of Internal Affairs about selfless love for the Homeland, true heroism and patriotism sound inspiringly at the venue of the action.

Then the participants of the event were shown the dogs kept in the Service Dog Breeding Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Alabaies, being assistants in the fight against drug trafficking, have a special sensitivity. Today, these strong and fearless, intelligent and hardy, loyal and friendly dogs show high service qualities in training sessions for both detaining criminals and searching for explosives and drugs.

At the end of the action, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the opportunity to join the noble initiative, which is of great importance in the context of countering the global threat to humanity.
