In the afternoon, the President of Turkmenistan attended the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of a new velayat mosque in Turkmenabat, Lebap Velayat. The Turkmen leader drove to the ceremony venue where the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies, the hyakims of the regions and Ashgabat, the elders from the regions and of the country and mullahs had gathered together. The Turkmen leader cordially greeted each elder and talked to them about their health, living conditions and current situation in the region. Together with the honorary elders, mullahs and ceremony participants, the Turkmen leader approached the platform where the draft designs of the velayat mosque with the praying hall for 3,000 visitors were displayed. The mosque will occupy a total area of 5 hectares. The first floor will cover an area of 3,590 square and the second floor – 886 square metres. The dome of the mosque will have the height of 40 metres, and each of the four minarets will have the height of 63 metres. The building for sadaqas designed for for 50 visitors will be built next to the mosque. The building complex included a hotel for 50 visitors. After the presentation had concluded, the Turkmen leader asked the elders and mullahs what they thought of the mosque project. Expressing their approval for the project, the elders heartily thanked the President for his participation in the ceremony. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov threw the first shovels of concrete into the foundation of the future mosque. Following the Turkmen leader, the honorary elders, mullahs and ceremony participants joined in performing this symbolic ritual. Then the President headed to the building of the Lebap Velayat Cultural Centre in Turkmenabat, where President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a sadaqah agzachar on the occasion of the holy month of Oraza. During his working visit to Lebap Velayat the Turkmen leader attended the opening ceremonies of the water treatment facilities in Mukry settlement in Koitendag and Farap Etrap, a children’s recreational centre for 300 visitors in Serdarabat Etrap and a ginnery with the capacity to gin 40,000 tons of seed cotton per year in Karabekaul Etrap. During meetings with tenant farmers Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked to them about the progress of agricultural activities and the conditions of life and work in the region. The Turkmen leader visited one of the largest industrial enterprises – the complex producing potash fertilizers in Garlyk, where construction work was in full swing.
