President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov started up the water treatment facilities in Koitendag and Farab Etrap during his working visit to Lebap Velayat. The Turkmen leader first visited the water treatment plant, located in Mukry settlement in Koitendag Etrap. The President arrived by helicopter at the ceremony venue. The Turkmen leader visited the office building of the industrial facility where specialists would monitor and check the operation of all units of the water supply system. The Turkmen leader pushed the start button, launching the production process and putting the water treatment plant into operation. It is equipped with pumping units, filter equipment and other units and measuring devices from leading manufacturers. The water treatment, decontamination and preparation processes at the new water treatment plant are computer-aided. The water from the Amudarya River flows into an open-air water storage reservoir, which has the capacity to store 500,000 cubic metres, or a 10 day supply of water. The water is settled, disinfected and fed into the filter system and then supplied into the two closed water storage reservoirs. Then the water is disinfected once again and fed into water supply networks. The industrial facility will provide citizens of all settlements in Koitendag, Mukry, Magdanly and villages in the region with high-quality drinking water. Clean drinking water will be supplied interruptedly to over 100,000 people, residing in this mountainous region. The project also stipulates that along with water treatment facilities, over 100 kilometres of water supply pipelines will be built in the settlements. When visiting the water treatment facilities in Koitendag Etrap, the Turkmen leader started up the water treatment plant in Farab Etrap via TV space bridge. The water treatment plant in Farab Etrap has the capacity to treat 25,000 cubic metres per day, which is enough to meet the needs for clean drinking water of citizens of all towns and settlements in the region. If necessary, water reserves of the industrial facility will allow significantly increasing the volume of water supplied. 25 kilometres of water supply pipelines were built in the region. The water treatment plant is supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, including laboratory equipment, 10 pumping units, 25 filters, 2 backup diesel generators and computer systems. Its water storage reservoir has the capacity to store 125,000 cubic metres. The ambitious programme or clean drinking water supply adopted in early 2011 is being implemented in Lebap Velayat as well as in other regions of the country. Water treatment facilities, which have the capacity to treat 50,000 cubic metres per day, and water supply pipelines are currently under construction in Sakarchaga Etrap and water treatment facilities, which have the capacity to treat 30,000 cubic metres per day, and water supply pipelines are currently under construction in Halach Etrap. A drinking water plant with the capacity to produce 30,000 cubic metres per day is currently under construction in Serdarabat Etrap, a drinking water plant with the capacity to produce 35,000 cubic metres per day and water supply pipelines – in Beyik Turkmenbashi Etrap and the drinking water plants with the capacity to produce 20,000 and 10,000 cubic metres per day – in Galkynysh and Birata Etrap respectively.
