The year of 2016 has demonstrated the effectiveness of work of agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan. Harvested wheat crop amounted to 1 million 604.5 thousand tons, cotton delivery obligations have been fulfilled in the amount of 1 million 71 thousand tons. In comparison with 2015, amount of harvested rice has almost doubled, potatoes – increased by more than 30 percent, melons –by 13.6 percent.

In the past 2016, the GDP of Turkmenistan has grown by 6.2 percent. In the industrial sector, this figure increased by 1.2 percent, in construction – by 4.4 percent, in transport and communications sector – by 10.5 percent, in trade - by 14.3 percent, in agriculture – by 11.6 percent and in services – by 10 percent.

Gasoline and products of the agro-industrial complex are the subject of transactions registered at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan on the first week of the new year. Businessmen from Afghanistan purchased gasoline produced at the Turkmenbashy complex of oil refineries. Moreover, businessmen from Russia, Turkey and Afghanistan purchased wheat, cotton fibre, dyed terry goods to the sum of more than US$ 1.548 million.

A carbamide plant with an annual capacity of 1,155,000 tons of carbamide is being constructed in the town of Garabogaz, Balkan velayat. The project is being implemented by “Türkmenhimiýa” State Concern jointly with the consortium of companies: “Mitsubishi Corporation” (Japan) and Gap Inşaat” (Turkey). The gas chemical complex will be equipped with state-of-the-art licensed technologies and facilities from the world’s leaders, such as “Haldor Topsoe” (Denmark), “Saipem” (Italy), “Uhde Fertilazer” (Neatherlands), and “UOP” (USA).

Preparations for the upcoming season are now underway at 379 bioenterprises in etraps and daikhan associations of Turkmenistan to keep cotton growers well supplied with ecologically clean and economically sound biological products. The enterprises specialize in rearing beneficial insects, such as lacewings and Habrobracon hebetor that help to control cotton pests. Biological pest control is highly efficient and environmentally safe.
