The monument dedicated to first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, whose name was given to one of the streets of administration centres of Lebap velayat, was opened in Turkmenabat. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the opening ceremony.

The first passengers to pass through the new railway bridge across the Amu Darya were the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The train set off via a new pass Turkmenabat-Farab to the right bank of the Amu Darya after the opening ceremony of the bridge, in which the Heads of two neighboring states took part.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev cut symbolical ribbon and opened new railway bridge Turkmenabat – Farab across Amudarya River.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the new railway and road bridges across Amu Darya, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the historic significance of this event. The opening ceremony of the new bridges has also been attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is visiting Turkmenistan.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived to the right bank of the Amudarya River across the new railway bridge. The cortege of the leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan run along the highway laid between the two bridges.

Upon completion of the talks, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev headed to the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex located in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains.

Speaking to the press after Turkmen – Uzbek high-level talks in Ashgabat, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the current meeting is summoned to give strong quality impulse to cooperation between the countries and lay fundamental basis of the dialog for long-term strategic perspective.

Speaking during the press conference on the outcomes of the Ashgabat talks, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan would continue coordinating the efforts to ensure the sustainable development and its integral parts, including energy security, development of the international transport and transit traffic, ecology and environmental protection.

After signing ceremony of bilateral documents by the results of Turkmen – Uzbek high-level negotiations, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the representatives of mass media.

The ceremony of bilateral documents signing took place after high-level negotiations. Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted Joint Statement and signed the Agreement on strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
