Last week, the conference hall of the “Ýyldyz” Hotel hosted a meeting of the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (ICSD) which coordinates and manages regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development of Central Asian countries.

Construction of mosque for 3000 seats and premises for sadaka-rites for 500 seats, hotel for 50 rooms, and car park with accomplishment of its adjoining territory will be started in Turkmenabat.

Last week, the conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a regional forum - «International cooperation in the sphere of migration and emergency readiness», convened by the Government of Turkmenistan in association with the International Organization for Migration. Delegations from the Central Asian countries and Afghanistan, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to our country, leaders of the ministries and departments concerned, representatives of public organizations, foreign and domestic media communities took part in the work of the forum.

Early last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the meeting with the head of the foreign-policy Office of State of Qatar Haled ben Mohammed Al Atiya, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

International conference “Tourism - the ambassador of peace and a basis of relations” was opened in Mary and collected experts of the travel and rest industry from about 20 countries of different continents. These are the USA, Japan, China, Spain, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, etc.

A regular meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan focused on the preparations for the upcoming elections to Gengesh and Mejlis in two electoral districts: the electoral district Gunesh 7 and the electoral district Dostluk 8 in Ashgabat – newly elected members will replace the retired parliamentarians.

Ashgabat hosted a two-day regional seminar on the legal and practical aspects of patent protection of pharmaceutical products. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the Eurasian Patent Organisation. Representatives of the Swiss Confederation, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, etc. participated in the forum.

It was held a regular graduation of students of the higher educational establishments of military and law-enforcement agencies of the country – the Military Institute and Institute of the Navy of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, Frontier Institute, Institute of National Security and Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country. Major solemnities on the occasion of this event have been organized on the square before the capital’s Monument of Constitution.

Ashgabat hosted a regional seminar on the efficiency of drug prevention national programmes. Representatives of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan as well as UNODC Expert Hanna Heikkila (Austria) and Regional Coordinator Nadeem Rehman (Iran) arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the meeting.

These days, the country traditionally celebrated the graduation ceremonies in the higher educational institutions of military and law-enforcement bodies of the country –the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan, the Naval Institute of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan, the Institute of State Border Service, Institute of National Security and Institute of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Turkmenistan. Main festivities were held in the square in front of the Constitution Monument in the capital city.
