During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on March 29, Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, G.Myradov reported on the final results of the elections of the Mejlis deputies, the members of the velayat, etrap, city Halk Maslahaty and Gengesh, held in our country on March 25. The Chairman of the Central Election Commission reported that of 284 candidates, 125 Mejlis deputies were elected, of 3.059 candidates - 240 members of velayat and Ashgabat Halk Maslahaty were elected, and 1.200 members of the etrap and city Halk Maslahaty were elected, of 13.215 candidates – 5.900 Gengesh members were elected. The newly elected Mejlis deputies, and members of Halk Maslahaty and Gengesh include 3.257 representatives of the Democratic Party, 352 – the Party of Industrialists and Manufacturers, 1.358 – the Agrarian Party and 2.498 – the groups of citizens. The lists of newly elected Mejlis deputies, and members of Halk Maslahaty and Gengesh, considered and approved during the meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan on March 28, will be published soon. It was also reported that over 4,000 national observers and 142 international observers - the representatives of the CIS Election Observation Mission, the United Nations, as well as members of the delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and a number of foreign countries monitored the elections. The observers confirmed that the elections were held at the high organizational level, without substantial breaches. Commenting on the report, the President instructed the Chairman of the Central Election Committee to express gratitude to all those, who took part in the preparation and organization of the election campaign on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers. The President of Turkmenistan also instructed the relevant officials to carefully analyze the work done in this area and, if appropriate, to submit the proposals on the further improvement of the election procedures in line with international standards. The President expressed gratitude to all citizens, who came to the polling stations and cast their votes for one or another candidate. According to the Turkmen leader, the results of these elections are of great importance for our society. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the free expression of one's opinion and personal views on the issues of the state importance is fixed in the Constitution of Turkmenistan, this is our civil right. The equal opportunities were created for all participants in the current election campaign. Two or more candidates ran for one mandate in the elections that were held on the competitive basis. The candidates for deputies were nominated and registered on the principles of equality, freedom and openness in accordance with the requirements of the national legislation. The creation of the legislative base of the civil society allowed the three active political parties to nominate their representatives and thereby contribute to conduct the elections on the democratic basis. That in turn, testifies to the high level of development of the national democracy. The Turkmen leader congratulated the newly elected Mejlis deputies on that they could earn the trust of the electorate to represent the people for the next five years.
