On September 15, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the high-level Turkmen-Korean Business Forum.

Before the start of the forum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the exhibition showcasing produces and industrial goods manufactured by Turkmen entrepreneurs.

After viewing the exhibition, the Head of State attended the high-level Turkmen-Korean Business Forum.

At the official opening of the forum, the floor was given to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Warmly welcoming the attendees, the Head of State thanked the organizers for the invitation to speak at the forum, noting that promising projects aimed at the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in trade, economic, and investment spheres are currently being discussed with the leaders and representatives of leading Korean companies.

Over the years of independence of Turkmenistan, Korean companies have accumulated rich experience working in Turkmenistan.

In this context, the Head of State highlighted the construction, with the participation of LX International Corp. and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd., of a natural gas desulfurization plant at the Galkynyş gas field and a polymer plant in Kiyanly, as well as the work carried out with the participation of SK Networks in Ashgabat to install a road traffic safety system and provide consulting services.

A major part of the public transport fleet in Turkmenistan consists of Korean-made buses and passenger cars, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued, emphasizing that a number of investment projects are currently being implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd., Korea Meditech Co., Ltd., and other Korean corporations. At the same time, it was noted that negotiations are underway on promising projects, the implementation of which will be launched in the near future.

It was highlighted that, to date, 17 investment projects with a total value of over 12 billion US dollars have been registered in Turkmenistan with the participation of Korean companies.

In continuation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in attracting Korean technologies, investments, and management experience into the petrochemical, chemical, energy, transport, and other sectors.

It was emphasized that the development of transport and logistics supply systems stands out as a highly promising vector. Declaring the readiness of Turkmenistan to consider the participation of Korean companies in relevant projects aimed at creating infrastructure systems, the Head of State noted the immense importance attached to cooperation in the field of the chemical industry.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov placed special emphasis on the existing potential for cooperation in the field of medicine and healthcare.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov acknowledged the readiness of the Turkmen side to create the necessary conditions and provide comprehensive support to the Korean business community for the implementation of promising joint projects in Turkmenistan.

In conclusion, the Head of State expressed confidence that the present meeting would become another important step in strengthening business cooperation between our countries and would help identify new concrete projects that meet bilateral interests.

Then, the floor was given to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Han Seongsook, who cordially congratulated the attendees on the opening of the Turkmen-Korean Business Forum and warmly welcomed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is paying his first state visit to the Republic of Korea, along with the members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan. The Head of Government of the Republic of Korea expressed special appreciation to the Turkmen leader for participating in this meeting with Korean businessmen and discussing promising areas of cooperation.

It was noted that the academic degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences held by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his deep knowledge of the energy industry enhance the significance of today’s meeting.

Han Seongsook noted that, guided by the accumulated experience of cooperation, three main areas of economic bilateral partnership should be highlighted. These include the construction of energy and infrastructure facilities, shipbuilding and the transport-logistics sphere, as well as the joint training of specialists.

It was stated that to ensure the sustainable development of economic cooperation between the two countries, along with increasing cultural exchanges through the King Sejong Institute (Korean Educational Center) in Ashgabat, it is advisable to coordinate the training of technical specialists. In this context, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea emphasized that assistance will be provided in human resource training by expanding cooperation between universities and exchanging technical knowledge and practical experience.

In conclusion of her speech, Han Seongsook noted that today’s meeting provides a good opportunity for companies from both countries to demonstrate new investment opportunities, as well as to convey their practical ideas to the President of Turkmenistan and Government representatives. Along with this, the readiness of the Government of the Republic of Korea to provide comprehensive support to new entrepreneurial initiatives was reaffirmed.

Then, the Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Jin-sik Yoon, delivered a speech, cordially welcoming President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and expressing gratitude for his participation in the current forum.

Jin-sik Yoon expressed confidence that the combination of advanced industrial technologies and experience in implementing large-scale projects by Korean companies, combined with the rich natural resources of Turkmenistan and its immense development potential, will yield high indicators for both sides.

It was noted that the Korea – Turkmenistan Business Council plays an important role in developing the partnership between the business circles of the two countries.

In conclusion of his speech, Jin-sik Yoon assured that the Association he heads will make every effort to further strengthen relations between the companies of both states.

Then, on behalf of the Korea International Trade Association, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was presented with an Honorary Badge and a special certificate for his contribution to strengthening friendly relations, mutual trust, and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

Upon the conclusion of the high-level Turkmen-Korean Business Forum, the Head of State wished all participants success and departed the venue.

In continuation of the forum, the opportunities for trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea were discussed in detail. The speeches delivered by the representatives of the two countries noted the significance of the current meeting in defining the key areas of interaction. At the same time, the wish of Korean business circles to participate in the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan was reaffirmed.

Then, a signing ceremony for bilateral documents took place based on the outcomes of the Turkmen-Korean Business Forum.
