Information on the preparation to international forum on transport theme planned on May 2 was given at the session of the Government on April 6. The Vice-premier, Foreign Minister R. Merdov noted that consolidation of versatile cooperation in strategic important issues of global agenda is one of the key factors of foreign course of neutral Turkmenistan. For these purposes, our country carries out large-scale work for practical realization of international documents adopted on number of special urgent directions including the transport sphere. Systematic work is carried out by the initiative of the Head of the State on creation of several transport and communication corridors in Eurasian continent what is very important for the development of regional and international economic cooperation. At the same time, actual measures for further modernization and accumulation of the potential of relative infrastructure are taken in the country. The construction of new International Seaport is under completion in Turkmenbashy. The port is given with the important role of connecting link in the system of transport communications between Asia and Europe. At present, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with branch ministries work on organization of celebration events timed to the opening of this large super modern facility planned for the beginning of May. In this relation, it is proposed to hold international forum in the Congress Centre of Avaza National Tourist Zone, which agenda will include wide spectrum of subjects of the development of beneficial partnership in transport and logistics sphere, particularly by efficient involvement of the ports’ potential as well as by activation of the contacts in tourism industry, stimulation of investment activity and other subjects. In addition, it is planned to organize the exhibition dedicated to international transport cooperation. It was also proposed to hold regular IX session of the ministers of transport of the ECO members in Avaza National tourism zone on May 3. Having noted that in modern realities, the cooperation in transport sphere is an integral factor of sustainable development that directly influence the efficiency and balance of the world economic relations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted active position of neutral Turkmenistan in this subjects. Proposing specific initiatives including in the UN format and implementing large-scale infrastructural projects with foreign partners, our country makes considerable input to the development of international cooperation in this strategic direction. In the last years, our country was the place of big events of international importance for several times, which agendas included the priority aspects of the partnership in the above-mentioned field. It includes the first Global Sustainable Transport Conference in Ashgabat in November 2016 under the UN aegis. Important document – the Ashgabat declaration, has been adopted by its outcomes. Speaking of this, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov requested the Vice-premier, the Head of the MFA to provide high organizational level of coming forum that is to support further improvement and accumulation of fruitful cooperation in transport and communication sector.
