Minsk hosted the session of the Commonwealth of Independent State Foreign Ministers Assembly where Turkmenistan delegation under the leadership of the Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part. The agenda of the CIS Foreign Ministers Assembly included 12 subjects related to the cooperation in political, economic, cultural and educational spheres and collaboration between the Foreign Ministries. The priority was paid to the provision of security, crime and international terrorism combating as well as to the coordination of the activities of the law enforcement departments of the CIS countries. The Heads of the CIS delegations reviewed the Draft Agreements on cooperation between the CIS countries on combating of crimes in information technologies, Draft Interstate Programme of joint measures against the crime in 2019 – 2023 and other. The participants of the session noted the importance of the realization of big regional projects involving not only the members of the CIS but other countries as well. Traditional cultural and humanitarian cooperation has always been an important positive factor of friendship and trust consolidation between the CIS nations. In this context, Turkmenistan delegation stood for the activation and expansion of the contacts under children, youth and women organizations, educational and scientific institutions as well as sport associations of the CIS countries what is able to give new impulse and content to versatile and comprehensive cooperation. The participants of the session exchanged the opinions of urgent issues of global agenda and on cooperation under the Commonwealth, discussed wide range of subjects aimed at further development and intensification of the cooperation in the key directions of the CIS activity. The importance of work of the Commonwealth for the monitoring of the elections was also highlighted. By the outcomes of work of the session, the head of Turkmen delegation signed the Decision on fulfilment of the Plan of multilevel inter - foreign ministries consultations under the CIS in 2017 and the Plan for 2018 as well as the Decision of declaration of 2021 as the Year of Architecture and Urban Construction in the Commonwealth of Independent States. This initiative was proposed earlier by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the summit of the Heads of the CIS in Sochi. Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, another session of the CIS Foreign Ministry Assembly is to be held in Dushanbe on September 27.
