President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov handed in the flags of the Armed Forces. Military personnel – the participants of the event, lined up in President Palace Complex awaiting for the Head of the State. The event was highlighted with special significance and symbolism by the fact that it occurred in anticipation of the Constitution Day and the Day of the State Flag, which are observed in our country as one holiday – the event that embodies spiritual and patriotic traditions of our nation. The President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country entered the Oguzkhan Hall. Secretary of the State Security Council, Defence Minister Ya. Berdiyev made report to the Head of the State. Having received the report, the Head of the State greeted the military personnel. After, the Secretary of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan read out the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan on combat colours to military divisions. Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov handed in the colours to the commanders of the Ground, Air and Air Defence Forces, NAVY as well as to the commanders of certain divisions of the State Border Guard Service of Turkmenistan. The Commanders bent the knee and gave kiss to the colour as the sign of commitment to military oath and loyalty to the country. Bending the knee to national symbols means honouring an exceptional feat of national heroes, our legendary ancestors – the defenders of Turkmen land who gave their lives away for the motherland. The ritual that became the expression of awe of Turkmens to the flag highlights the commitment of our nation to its spiritual and moral values and centuries-old traditions. Having unwrapped the flags, the group of bannermen led by the commanders marched along the line of the participants of the ceremony under the sounds of ceremonial music. After handing the flags, the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the country Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the greetings to the participants of the event. The flag was always treated as a sacred thing in our glorious history. In all times, combat colours are worshipped, it is considered to be the pride of the troops and the oath is given to it, the Supreme Commander noted. The Head of the State expressed the confidence that the colours that were handed in as honourable military attribute would always be in the right hands, “Let the honour, glory and authority of dedicated, brave military personnel be always high!” – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. In the end, the President cordially congratulated military staff on the award of the colours and wished them happiness, wealth and success. Having expressed the gratitude to Turkmen leader for the attention paid to the improvement of National Army and security forces, for improvement of service and living conditions, the participants of the ceremony gave military oath. Having wished success in their noble deeds to the participants of the ceremony, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Army General Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said warm goodbye to them.
