President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Alexander Blokhin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan at the Ruhiyet Palace. Official award ceremony of the Medal of Honour of the grandfather of the Head of the State Berdimuhamedov Annayev to Turkmen leader took place during the meeting. As is known according to the Resolution of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the grandfather of Turkmen leader Berdimuhamed Annayev was awarded with the highest state award of the Russian Federation, the Medal of Honour during defence of the Motherland and fulfilment of his military duty in the years of great Patriotic War. At the reception, Russian Ambassador read out this Resolution and handed over the medal, which is one of the highest military awards, to the Head of the State as well as presented the collection of the documents made in the form of book from the military archives of Russia about the service of Berdimuhamed Annayev. The Head of the State expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of Turkmen people and personally to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, having noted that such high state award given to Berdimuhamed Annayev symbolize the honour of our ancestors, brave warriors who fought in the battles of the Second World War and gave their lives for peace on the planet. The President said that he would hand over the medal to the museum of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan, which is named after Berdimuhamed Annayev. Having handed over the medal to Defence Minister B. Gundogdiyev, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the confidence that the Medal of Honour would inspire young soldiers for great success. Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that this high award, conferred to his grandfather Berdimuhamed Annayev, is a sign of further consolidation of friendship and strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia and conveyed sincere wishes of strong health, happiness and wealth to President Vladimir Putin and Russian people. Having expressed the gratitude to Russian diplomat, the President awarded him with commemorative badge in honour of the 27th anniversary of Turkmenistan Independence and his new books – the second part of popular “Turkmenistan – the Heart of the Great Silk Road” and “Turkmenistan on the Way to Achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals”.
