The first session of the highest representative body of people’s authority, the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, took place on the eve of the 27th anniversary of independence. The forum considered the relevant issues pertinent to the life of the country, while the adopted decisions focused on ensuring the country’s prosperity, the statement says. Transforming Turkmenistan into an industrially developed country, ensuring well-being and happiness of the people are priority areas of our domestic policy. This is clearly reflected in the adopted programs and implemented major projects. The policy of good-neighborliness and permanent neutrality pursued by Turkmenistan enhances the country’s profile in global politics. Upon Turkmenistan’s initiative, the United Nations proclaimed 12 December as International Day of Neutrality, which served as yet another recognition of Turkmenistan’s high international profile on the international arena. Peaceful life is the foundation of sustainable development. We spare no efforts to ensure the country’s further prosperity. New milestones are inextricably connected with security in the country. Protecting its well-being and the peaceful life of the people is the primary duty incumbent upon you and the personnel of other military and law enforcement authorities. You are entrusted with a special mission and enormous responsibility of ensuring national security of the country, its constitutional order, border integrity, economic interests, scientific and technical potential and its defensive capacity. I firmly believe that you will focus all your strength, knowledge and experience on the gradual development of the country. You must prevent incursions of global threats such as international terrorism, extremism and drug smuggling. It is crucial to enhance cooperation with other law enforcement authorities to ensure the country’s security, well-being and the rule of law across society. To fulfill these important tasks successfully, it is crucial to improve professional training and vigilance, to raise awareness of modern science, innovative technology and stay fit by regularly practicing sports. Our forefathers have entrusted the protection of the country to the most courageous and intelligent people with excellent level of military training. You must follow in the footsteps of our ancestors and brave defenders of the country and guard the peaceful and happy life of the people, continue the heads-on struggle against any offence and crime. I believe that you will honorably address these important tasks! By creating the favorable environment for impeccable discharge of military duties, we will continue to take effective steps towards further improvement of logistical and technical capacity of the Ministry, will enhance the quality of service and improve the lives and welfare of its personnel, the Presidential Address stresses.
