President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit, the defenders of the Fatherland and the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake at the “Halk hakydasy” Memorial Complex. President Ilham Aliyev laid flowers to “Baky Şöhrat” monument, got acquainted with the exposition of the “Watan mukaddesligi” Museum on the territory of the Memorial complex, and left an entry in the Book of the Guests of Honour. The President of Azerbaijan also visited the Ashgabat Olympic Village. President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the sportswear, produced by the textile enterprises of our country. The distinguished guest highly evaluated the quality of comfortable and stylish products, manufactured in Turkmenistan. Getting acquainted with the infrastructure of the cross functional sports village, the President of Azerbaijan highly evaluated its architecture, large scale and design. President Ilham Aliyev also visited the Turkmen Carpet National Museum. The expositions of the priceless historical items, as well as the wonderful masterpieces of modern carpet weavers that embody the continuity of the original traditions were demonstrated to the guest. The top-level talks between the leaders of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will take place in Ashgabat tomorrow. Particular attention during the talks will be paid to the intensification and diversification of the trade and economic relations. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have tremendous natural and resource potential, including huge hydrocarbon reserves that open up wide opportunities for establishing fruitful contacts in strategically important spheres. The geographic location of the two neighbouring states provide favourable conditions for the consolidation of efforts in the implementation of projects on the establishment of modern transcontinental communication corridors that connect Europe and Asia. The Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation as well as business structures play an important role in creating new areas of cooperation and enhancing business relations. The both countries pay particular attention to the traditional humanitarian relations in the spheres of education, science and culture, as well as cooperation in the spheres of sports and tourism. The formation of a relevant legal framework for the five-sided cooperation of the Caspian states, taking into account the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea adopted in August, 2018, is important for the both countries. Thus, the upcoming meeting of the leaders of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, on the outcomes of which a large package of documents will be signed, is to be another step towards the expansion of the interstate dialogue.
