Speaking during the press conference on the outcomes of the top-level talks in Ashgabat, President Ilham Aliyev noted that the peoples of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were united with the history, culture, common roots, traditions and worldview. Summing up the talks, the President of Azerbaijan underlined that the present visit, during which the important issues of cooperation were discussed and the ways for the further cooperation were specified, would occupy a special place in the history of the relations between the two countries. Over 20 documents were signed on the outcomes of the talks that vividly demonstrate the volume of cooperation and prove the friendly relations between the two countries. The President of Azerbaijan emphasized that it is possible to work in such various areas only with a close country. Speaking about the agreements achieved, President Ilham Aliyev assured that Azerbaijan is ready to increase commodity turnover between the countries, in particular, the relevant instructions were given to the intergovernmental commission to increase exports from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan and from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan. The head of the neighboring state said that in previous years, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan created a modern transport infrastructure and logistical opportunities, following a parallel course. It is not occasional that the international trade ports in both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were at the same time - in May, 2018. A relevant document was signed to provide our countries with the opportunities to increase trade and transit traffic. President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit would be important for developing the bilateral cooperation and strengthening the fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. Taking the opportunity, he wished the Turkmen people peace, prosperity, and further development under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
