Ashgabat hosts session of Constitutional Commission

Session of the Constitutional Commission chaired by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was held in Ashgabat. New stage of constitutional reforms has been announced at the session of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan on September 25, 2019. Their main objective is to improve activity of the People’s Council and formation of two chamber Parliament. At the same time, the Constitutional Commission for development and compilation of proposals related to amendments and addendums of the Main Law of the country has been established by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan. Two sessions of the Constitutional Commission have already taken place in October and December 2019, during which its working plan was approved, specific objectives were outlined and organizational issues were reviewed. Work for study and compilation of proposals on amendments and addendums of the Constitution of the country has been carried out for this period. Preliminary Draft Law on Amendments and Addendums of the Constitution of Turkmenistan has been brought out for discussion at the current session of the Commission.
