A consultation meeting to discuss the Country programme of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for 2021-2025 was held in the building of the United Nations Office in Turkmenistan. Head of the United Nations Children's Fund office in Turkmenistan Ms. Christine Weigand, the representatives of the national parliament, ministries and departments, public organizations and young people attended the event. The meeting participants were familiarized with the key directions, as well as the additions proposed to be included in the new Cooperation Programme. Based on the priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, this document is aimed at strengthening relations in the field of children's health, nutrition, harmonious development, social protection, quality education, as well as improving public administration in this area. The country programme of cooperation is the UNICEF contribution to national efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Agenda to 2030, in particular the sustainable development goals for children. It also aims at supporting the implementation of the socio-economic development strategy and the National Action Plan on the Rights of the Child 2018-2022. Speaking during the meeting, the head of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan highly appreciated the level of partnership with our country, expressing willingness to continue working together for children. Turkmenistan takes complex measures to ensure comprehensive development and education of the younger generation, and successfully implements state programmes in this area. Within the framework of the existing programme of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF for 2016-2020, positive results have been achieved in ensuring quality and inclusive education, raising children's awareness of climate change, etc. The meeting participants also exchanged views on approaches to the implementation of the Country Programme of Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund for 2021-2025.
