The main goal of the online training, which brought together specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, a number of other ministries and departments of the country, is to introduce the experience of the OSCE member states in environmental management and control in the energy sector. As noted, the restated National Strategy on Climate Change, approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov last year, had marked the next stage in the large-scale work carried out in this area. This important document was drafted based on the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the UN-adopted ""Agenda for the period up to 2030"" and the Paris Agreement on climate change ratified by our country. As a world energy power, our country invests significant funds into modernization and diversification of the oil and gas industry, the widespread introduction of advanced technologies that ensure deep processing of hydrocarbons, supply of modern technology and equipment to the industry. International experts have recognized the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly and the plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas in Ahal velayat, new technological units of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries as highly effective projects in socio-economic and environmental terms. Due to the use of innovative technologies, these facilities ensure the production of high-quality petroleum and gas-chemical products with improved environmental characteristics that meet international norms and standards, and reduce the level of polluting emissions. The complex of measures taken in the oil and gas sector also includes the use of modern methods for controlling polluting emissions, automatic systems for detecting leaks in oil and gas pipelines, in gas distribution networks, as well as the efficient utilization of associated gases in oil fields and production waste, etc. Moreover, on the instruction of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy is being developed. In this context, the participants of the current webinar noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with other countries, including the European Union, where the best approaches and practices in the field of greenhouse gas emission reduction and climate change adaptation have been successfully tested.
