Telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been held on December 21. Having warmly greeted each other, the heads of two friendly countries expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity to share the opinions on the conditions and future of interstate cooperation, which meets fundamental interests of Turkmen and Uzbek people as well as to discuss some directions of international and regional policy. According to the common opinion of the sides, regular mutual contacts of high and other levels are bright indicators of mutual trust and respect. All of these gives powerful incentive to steadfast development of interstate relations. Taking the opportunity, Turkmen leader has congratulated his Uzbek colleague on successful session of the Council of the Heads of the CIS states and highlighted successful chairing of Uzbekistan in this structure in 2020. The expiring year was quite complicated by known reasons, however, Uzbekistan has deservingly managed this task, which resulted in conduct of the majority of planned joint events, which are aimed at strengthening of cooperation under the Commonwealth. The Leader of the Nation has made special mention that Turkmenistan highly appreciates bilateral relations with fraternal Republic of Uzbekistan and pays special attention to development of comprehensive cooperation with close neighbor and reliable partner, with which it has many things in common. Having expressed his gratitude for good words, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that expiring year has been held under the symbol of the 25th anniversary of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which has served to the strengthening of the bases of its neutrality and role in political world map. High authority of Turkmen leader has been again confirmed by the fact that the world community represented by the UN General Assembly has unanimously supported his initiative on declaration of 2021 as International Year of Peace and Trust. The Head of Uzbekistan has highlighted that this fact indicates huge relevance of important proposal made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his constructive peace-loving policy, which is aimed at support of global peace and security. Having focused on invariable commitment of the nations of two countries to equal and beneficial cooperation, the sides stated with delight that owing to the efforts, the interstate dialog has received strong dynamics of development in the last years, which allowed to take to new level. Having confirmed mutual interest in further improvement of Turkmen – Uzbek relations in trade and economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres, the sides expressed firm confidence that the cooperation, which is based on long friendship and good neighborliness, would be successfully developed for the sake of our fraternal people. In the end of the telephone conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev have exchanged the congratulations on coming New Year 2021, having addressed the people of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan with wishes of peace, wealth, prosperity and big success in all noble beginnings.
