A Video Conference Meeting with Foreign Partners

On February 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with heads of the United Nations offices and agencies, accredited in the country and the region.

Among those participating in the meeting were representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator Office, the UNDP, UNICEF, WHO, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and others.

Specialists of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia also participated in the meeting.

The participants exchanged their views on the effective implementation of plans and projects for this year. In this context, they highlighted the importance of the cooperation agreements (44 documents) signed between Turkmenistan and international organizations last December.

The main areas of collaboration between Turkmenistan and the United Nations include education, healthcare, social services, food security, and ecology.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Program between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Organization for 2021-2025. The outcomes of the collaborative work were also considered. The representatives of the international organizations highly praised Turkmenistan’s efforts to implement the joint agreements.

The participants also noted the importance of the International Year of Peace and Trust, which was officially launched in Ashgabat a few days ago. In this context, they considered events discussed in the Roadmap, which are set to make a meaningful contribution to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
