Turkmenistan discussed development of transport logistics in Geneva

On the instruction of the President of Turkmenistan, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva organized a videoconferencing meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan and the International Year of Peace and Trust “Stability of transport and trade relations in the Caspian Sea during the pandemic” on February 24, 2021, within the framework of the 83rd session of the Inland Transport Committee of Economic Commission for Europe.

The Ambassadors and Representatives of the missions of Central Asian and Caspian littoral states as well as representatives of international organizations participated the meeting.

Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, O.Algayerova, UN Under-Secretary-General Fekitamoeloa Katoa, Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Umberto de Pretto ), as well as ambassadors and permanent representatives of countries and representatives of international organizations took part in the meeting.

The issues of combining transport logistics were discussed in frames of the meeting, which may become one of the most important and effective areas of development in 2021.

The participants also noted the importance of continuing and strengthening the political dialogue with the aim to ensure comprehensive interaction between all modes of transport to facilitate the creation of sustainable multimodal transit corridors during the pandemic.

During the meeting, Turkmenistan also noted that this year our country had celebrated the 30th anniversary of its independence, and reported on the preparations for the ministerial transport conference for landlocked countries in 2021.
