Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a meeting with a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan headed by Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs Mohammad Qasim Halimi.

The parties expressed satisfaction the high level of interstate relations, where humanitarian cooperation occupies a special place. Minister Mohammad Qasim Halimi underlined the importance of the support provided by Turkmenistan to the Afghan people, which is manifested in numerous projects of a socio-economic and humanitarian nature.

The effectiveness of the neutral policy of Turkmenistan aimed at promoting friendly relations between countries and peoples was underlined. In this context, Minister Halimi highlighted the importance of social facilities built in Afghanistan with the support of the Turkmen side, in particular a mosque in Faryab province.

Meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for the development of the peaceful process in Afghanistan. In this aspect, Turkmenistan confirmed the willingness to promote this process through political and diplomatic methods.

The parties also discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the field of education, science and culture.
