Today, the elections of the head of state have been held in Turkmenistan in an atmosphere of special solemnity. From early morning, people went to the polling stations established throughout the country to exercise their constitutional right to vote for the most deserving of the nine candidates running for President of Turkmenistan.

March 12, 2022 at 7 o'clock in the morning began voting at all polling stations in 2577 and will end on 19 o'clock in the evening.

Today, Turkmenistan held presidential elections on an alternative basis, in which all candidates for the highest state post took part. This important socio-political campaign has become a new significant step towards further democratization of modern Turkmen society, strengthening the principles of genuine democracy inherent in the Turkmen people.

On March 10, 2022, Gulmyrat Muradov, the head of the of apparatus of the Commission for holding Elections and referendums in Turkmenistan met with Muharram Akkaya, head of the Supreme Electoral Council of the Republic of Turkey, and Ali Urker, member of the Supreme Electoral Council of the Republic of Turkey, who arrived in our country as international observers.

A total of more than 98,940 young voters at the age 18 who will vote for the first time in the March 12 on Presidential elections across the country have registered, the first time they have cast their ballots in the polling stations.

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an online joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council with the participation of the khyakims of the velayats and Ashgabat city to consider the preparations for the presidential elections of Turkmenistan and a number of other issues.

Today, the Turkmen capital hosted a video conference on development of the country’s tourism sector, which was organized as part of the World Expo 2020 held in Dubai.
