President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on official visit to Dushanbe, had a meeting with Shukurjon Zukhurov, the Chairman of Lower Chamber of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

While on the official visit to the city of Dushanbe, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has visited the National Museum of Tajikistan. The head of state was warmly welcomed by the museum director Abduvali Sharifzoda and staff at the entrance.

“It gives me great pleasure to offer Your Excellency the warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence on behalf of the people, the Government of India, and personally,” the Indian leader’s message to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov states.

At the end of the document signing ceremony, the Heads of two states addressed the representatives of mass media.

Bilateral document signing ceremony took place at the end of Turkmen – Tajik talks in extended format.

It was observed during Turkmen – Tajik talks that having considerable potential of trade and economic partnership the sides do not use completely. It was highlighted that Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have capabilities for expansion of the volumes of trade, investment, implementation of joint projects in different spheres as well for entering new perspective directions of cooperation.

As was noted during the talks in Dushanbe, the cultural and humanitarian sphere is one of the priority areas of the interstate relations. The representatives of science, culture and arts of the both countries regularly take part in the international events, organized in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

During the talks in Dushanbe, it was underlined the necessity to enhance cooperation in the bilateral and multilateral format in the environmental sphere. In this regard, Turkmenistan suggests specifying the work on the establishment of permanent specialized structures in the Central Asian region to focus on the international cooperation in the environmental sphere.

Situation in Afghanistan was separate subject of Turkmen – Tajik negotiations. It was mentioned in this context that regulation of the situation in neighbouring country can be achieved only by peaceful political means based on all-nation dialog with participation of all responsible and constructive Afghan powers.

After one-on-one meeting of the leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, the talks were continued in extended format with participation of the official delegations of both countries.
