Forestalling the agenda of the session, the Leader of the Nation, addressing the participants, noted that historical event was held recently in Ashgabat, the Global Sustainable Transport Conference was organized and conducted on high level under the UN aegis. Besides, the first section of the Asian Transnational Transport Corridor – Atamyrat – Ymamnazar – Akina part of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan railroad was put into operation. In this regard, the Head of the State expressed sincere gratitude to the heads, leading specialists, representatives of mass media, and all those who took active part in preparation and conduct of those important events.

Strengthening and developing cooperation with the authoritative organizations – that was the subject of the two-day meeting held in the Turkmen capital in the fames of preparations for Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the International Aral Sea Fund (IASF).

On December 1, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held a regular State Security Council meeting to hear the reports made by the heads of military and law enforcement agencies on the running year’s 11-month activity of the institutions they are in charge of, further strengthening and upgrading the agencies’ facilities and equipment, as well as on the implementation progress of the earlier presidential instructions on maintaining the socio-political stability and rule of law and order in the country.

The capital of Japan – Tokyo, hosted the 27th session of the Energy Charter Conference, where Turkmenistan was declared as the President of that largest international organization.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of Atamurat-Ymamnazar-Akina railway - the first link of the Asian transnational transport corridor, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mojhammad Ashraf Ghani underlined the importance of this project for the region.

The ‘golden juncture’ of the section Atamurat-Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan)-Akina (Afghanistan) - the first link of the Asian transnational transport corridor was fastened.

On November 27, the Turkmen capital hosted Transport Business Forum, held in the “Yyldyz” Hotel, in the framework of the events timed to the Global Sustainable Transport Conference.
