Today in Turkmenistan, elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of the velayat, etrap and city halk maslahaty, as well as Gengeshes are being held on a broad alternative basis.

Today at 7 o'clock in the morning voting on the elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of the halk maslahaty and Gengeshes began throughout the country and will end at 19 o'clock in the evening.

Turkmenistan is preparing for a new next step on the path of strengthening democratic principles in the life of society, further development of the primordial traditions of democracy, to which the Turkmens have been committed for many millennia, triumphing again in a new historical era. On March 26, all polling stations of the country will open their doors for the people of Turkmenistan, who, using their constitutional right, will fulfill their civic duty and elect the most worthy representatives to the Mejlis, to the representative bodies of local executive power and local self-government.

Today, Turkmenistan celebrated the National Spring Holiday – International Novruz Day on a grand scale. The main celebrations unfolded at the traditional site “Nowruz ýaýlasy” in the Ak Bugday etrap of the Akhal velayat.

Today, the opening of the international conference “Main Directions and Potential of Tourism Development in Turkmenistan” took place at the Arçabil Hotel in the capital.

Today, the “Adalat” Palace has hosted the 5th conference of judges of Turkmenistan, which was attended by representatives of the Supreme Court, the Arbitration Court, and judges of regional, city and districy courts. The forum agenda held via a digital system, included the priority objectives of further improvement of performance of the judicial bodies of the country.

On March 16, according to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, in all constituencies the early voting for elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of velayat, city and district Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshes started.

The Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan met with members of the mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to assess the preparations for and conduct of the upcoming elections on March 26.

These days, the Mission of Observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, which arrived at the invitation of Turkmenistan, began monitoring the election campaign for the upcoming elections.

Today, in honour of International Women’s Day, which is widely, marked in Turkmenistan, the solemnity under the title “Arkadag Serdarly bagtyýar zenanlar!” (“Happy women with Arkadag Serdar!” was held in the conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
