On October 28, the nation’s Leader Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov attended festivities held at the International Akhalteke Equestrian Complex on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence.

Winners and prize-winners of the tournament of Open Cup on kabaddi among Juniors of Balkan velayat were determined. The event was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence. The grand prize was won by the hosts, “Bars” team, that confidently beat in the final the athletes from Ashgabat with a score of 76:19.

The European Martial Arts Center in the city of Uden (the Netherlands) hosted an international Han Mu Do seminar, which was attended by Honored Trainer of Turkmenistan Orif Bukharakov. Our compatriot was the only instructor from the CIS countries to receive an invitation to the training event and a promotion examination (to be awarded the next higher dan – a rank of proficiency in martial arts).

Two medals of the purest tint had been won by our compatriots on the World Bench Press Championship held in Las Vegas (USA) according to the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) – without equipment. The victory was gained by Merdan Nursahatov (weight category up to 83 kg) and Dovletnazar Atanazarov (over 120 kg). Almost 500 competitors from nearly two dozens of countries participated in the championship.

Nowadays, in the Bulgarian city Plovdiv, World Taekwondo Championship (ITF version) is being held, and our national team has already won its first bronze medal there. The success was achieved by Myahri Agayeva in the «individual taolu» (complex exercises) discipline.

Turkmen sportsmen in the Asian Open Universal Fight in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, won two bronze medals. Moreover, our team consisted of two fighters and each of them came back with a prize.

Last week, winners and prize-winners of the Wushu Junior Championship of Turkmenistan were determined in the capital’s sport center “Galkynysh”. In tandem with these competitions, a qualifying tournament was held among men and women. The best of them are to represent our country at the World Championship in the near future.

Last week, on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, the Turkmen capital hosted next session of the Steering Committee of V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts to be held in Ashgabat in 2017 according to the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Members of the government, heads of ministries and sectoral departments concerned took part in the session.

Turkmen sportsmen won three gold and four bronze medals at the Asian Alysh Belt Wrestling Championship among men and women, recently held in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Tehran.

Turkmen sportswoman Gulbadam Babamyradova,23, - Master of Sports of international class from Lebap in the under-52kg weight class - won a gold medal at the Open Asian Judo Tournament «Taipei-2015» completed in Taiwan.
