Last week, an impressive arrival ceremony of the Turkmen “RO-PAX” class ferry “Berkarar” was held at the Russian port of Olya, located in the south of the Astrakhan Region. In the course of its maiden voyage, the passenger-automobile ferry vessel “Berkarar” delivered to the Astrakhan Region the construction materials for a 350-seat comprehensive secondary school to be built on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in the village of Funtovo, Privolzhsky District – home to a community of ethnic Turkmens. During the solemn arrival ceremony of the ferry vessel “Berkarar”, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Astrakhan Region Denis Afanasyev, Head of Privolzhsky District, the Astrakhan Region Rinat Utaliyev, as well as Consul of Turkmenistan to the Astrakhan Region Mekan Ishankuliev delivered their speeches. Musical compositions and songs were performed by art masters of the Astrakhan Region. Then, after discharge of the ferry vessel, a column of 30 heavy duty trucks headed towards the village of Funtovo, located 180 kilometres away from the port of Olya. At the site of the future school, destined to become a unique center of the Turkmen culture in the Astrakhan Region, a solemn welcoming ceremony was held for our country’s envoys - members of the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union of Turkmenistan, who had been entrusted to implement this important project as a symbol of friendship between the two friendly peoples.
