National Spring Holiday – the International Nowruz Day, which was marked by tree planting event, was widely celebrated in Ashgabat. Ashgabat citizens took active part in cultural and ecological events organized by the city administration of Ashgabat and by the Construction and Energy complex. The brightest events with the participation of local residents were held on Berkarar Street. The elders and youngsters came out to plant the seedlings in the etraps of the capital. Festive marathon was started with musical performance of popular singers who created beautiful atmosphere and encouraged people to sport activities, health improving exercises and tree planting works. Competitions in national sports like Gyoresh and yaglyga tovusmak raised special interest of the participants of the events. Anyone who wished to contest for the prize was able to join these tournaments. It added some staginess and emotional strain to the competitions, which winners were awarded with deserved prizes under the storm of applauses. Exhibition of agricultural, food and textile production, medicinal plants was rich with the exhibits, which also demonstrated the beauty of the capital. Picturesque watercolour works made in open-air by the students of Ashgabat art schools reflected architectural features of modern buildings. Traditional national dishes like dograma, checkdirme, yarma, pilaf, semeni, which were cooked during celebration events, have been highly appreciated by the participants. Tree planting activities organized in Parahat – 7 living estate, Berkarar etrap of the capital along Chandybil Avenue, Kopetdag etrap, on the territory of Choganly living estate, Bagtiyarlyk etrap and Julge, Byuzmeyin etrap were original symbol of nature awakening and added special meaning to Nowruz celebration. Totally, 198,220 seedlings were planted in Ashgabat.
