Session of Turkmenistan National Olympic Committee General Assembly was held in Ashgabat. The agenda of the meeting included organizational issues, reports of accomplished work for the last years and plans of future development of Olympic movement. Special mention in the review of the activity of NOC in 2016 – 2017 was made that successful V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in September 2017 were the main event of this period. International sport community highly appreciated the organization of the Games and exemplary infrastructure meeting strict requirements of the work standards. The participants of Turkmenistan National Olympic Committee General Assembly unanimously voted for the re-election of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as the Head of the NOC. It was highlighted that the strategy for targeted support and development of sports initiated by the Head of the State has led to impressive achievements of Turkmen athletes who took leading positions in total medal count from the first days of V Asian Games and won 245 medals including 89 gold. This success improved the authority of Turkmenistan in the world arena as the sport state and enhanced the prestige of national sport. Ashgabat 2017 Games by right may be referred to as special contribution of our country to the world sport and Olympic movement. Owing to special attention of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who steadily implements the open door and positive neutrality policy, everything was made in order the Asian Games were bright and unforgettable event and would be remembered by the participants as grandiose sport, peace and friendship festival. Together with the sportsmen from Asia, the athletes from Oceania and as well as the Olympic refugee team were participated in the Games for the first time. The fact that almost the third of the states of the planet took part in Ashgabat 2017 Games highlights its noble humane mission. The adoption of the Declaration of Encouraging of valuable contribution of refugees Olympic teams to the consolidation of peace and human rights adopted by the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan at the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council is visual evidence to this. It is remarkable that V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were the subject of close attention of the world media, which numerous representatives not only covered bright opening and closing ceremonies but also made reports and various material about our country. therefore, Ashgabat 2017 Games allowed thousands of people in different parts of the world opening discovering Turkmenistan with its rich history and original culture. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paus great attention to the development of sport movement. Today, this direction reached an unprecedented level in the country. Modern sport complexes, stadiums, sport schools and ground for physical training are built and new various sport classes are opened in all regions. Most favourable conditions supporting the level of the training and achievement of high results at international competitions are made in the country. Recently, Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution on training of national teams to coming XXXII Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2020. Our athletes also actively train for Asian Summer Olympics in Jakarta that will start in four months. Plans of development of Olympic movement in Turkmenistan were reviewed at current session and members of NOC Executive Committee were elected.
