During the visit to the capital of Tajikistan where he arrived for the participation in forum “Water for Sustainable Development”, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnun Hussein. During the conversation, the sides gave high appraisal to the dynamics of the development of interstate dialog, which is based on the relations of friendship, historical, cultural and spiritual community of the nations. President Mamnun Hussein highlighted that Pakistan is interested in activation of the cooperation with Turkmenistan and supports creative initiatives of Turkmen leader aimed at the support of peace and sustainable development in Asian continent and in the world in general. In this context, the leader of Pakistan noted the importance of the initiatives of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on creation of transcontinental energy and transport corridors. The President of Pakistan has also highlighted the appropriateness of the proposals of our country for joining of the efforts in solution of such aspects of ecological range of issues as protection and rehabilitation of water and other natural resources, combating the desertification and soil degradation, prevention and minimization of natural and anthropogenic catastrophes. Having expressed the gratitude for good words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated with delight the productiveness of the strategic partnership with Pakistan, which is successfully developed both in bilateral and multilateral levels. During the conversation, the sides exchanged the opinions on the key aspects of intensification of the cooperation, especially in fuel and energy, transport and communication spheres. In this context, the leaders on Turkmenistan and Pakistan expressed mutual interest in realization of the TAPI project and construction of TAP power and fibre optic line. The sides also spoke for the expansion of humanitarian cooperation. In the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mamnun Hussein confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Pakistan to the course directed to the diversification of multiformat cooperation for the interests of the nations of two countries.
