President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Greeting each other, the leaders of the two states expressed satisfaction with the high level and the constructive character of the interstate dialogue based on the long-term traditions of friendship and the principles of strategic partnership. The President of Russia cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader on his birthday and wished him good health, longevity and new outstanding achievements in his noble work at the high state post. Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also expressed his sincere gratitude to his Russian colleague for the high award - the medal ""For Courage"", which was awarded to the Turkmen leader’s grandfather Berdimuhamed Annaev for the personal courage and bravery in the battle against fascism during the Great Patriotic War in accordance with the special Presidential decree. The President of Turkmenistan noted that this award was perceived in our country as a sign of deep respect for the Turkmen soldiers, who selflessly fought on the fronts of the Second World War and significantly contributed to the Victory, as well as the manifestation of trusting, invariably friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Russia. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin discussed the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, focusing on the promising areas. The leaders of the two states also discussed the wide opportunities for enhancing the trade and economic partnership, increasing the volumes of the mutual trade turnover, promoting the productive ties in various sectors as well as new joint projects, and strengthening the fruitful humanitarian and cultural contacts. As was mentioned, the established close relations between Turkmenistan and the largest regions and subjects of the Russian Federation stand as a bright example of the successful interstate cooperation. The top-level agreements and the solid contractual legal framework base that covers the entire spectrum of Turkmen-Russian relations prove the parties’ aspiration to develop the full-scale cooperation on a long-term basis. The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia exchanged their views on a number of important issues of the regional and global agenda, underlining the commitment of the both countries to the constructive partnership in the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the UN, in order to ensure the universal peace, security and prosperity. In conclusion of the telephone conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin expressed belief that the traditional interstate dialogue would continue developing, filling with the new content, and addressed the best wishes to the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia.
