I extend to you my congratulations on the 26th anniversary of establishment of the Border Guard Service of Turkmenistan and the Border Guard Day! I wish you great success in your important service that reliable protection and inviolability of the borders of our independent, neutral Motherland, states the Address by the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the personnel, cadets and officers of the State Border Guard Service. This holiday is a symbol of high trust, unlimited respect for border guards who protect the independence and territorial integrity of our country. Upon Turkmenistan’s proposal, the 38th session of the UN Human Rights Council unanimously adopted the Joint Statement on encouraging the protection of cultural heritage along the Great Silk Road, and this raised our country’s international profile even higher. Border troops play an important role in strengthening Turkmenistan’s peaceful and friendly relations with all countries of the world. In fulfilling your obligations, you must be guided by these principles, ensuring the inviolability of the country’s frontirers and providing round-the-clock and reliable protection of the State border. It is my firm belief that every one of you will not spare efforts, knowledge and skills to discharge with honor the important mission entrusted to you, emphasizes the message. At all times, Turkmens attached great importance to improving the military skills of the younger generations of fearless custodians of the national defense. Our glorious history saw many examples of legendary fortitude, heroism and courage of Turkmen military commanders. To transmit our nation’s military skills from one generation to another and to train highly qualified military specialists, the Border Service Institute of Turkmenistan was established for the border troops to train professionals in accordance with the modern requirements. Protecting the Homeland is a sacred mission. Your important service ensures the country’s well-being. Under any weather conditions, away from populated areas, border police stand guard, fulfilling their military duty in an exemplary manner, which is why the government always attaches particular importance to the guardians of our borders. Creating every condition for the proper service of border guards and comfortable living conditions for their families is one of the key aspects of the military reform ongoing in the country. The vivid example to that are this year’s opening of the new complex of facilities at the Serhetabat border post and commissioning of the new building complex at the Etrek border post of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan on the day of professional holiday. Creating every condition to ensure the appropriate border service and provide comfortable life for family members of border guards are among priority aspects of the military reform carried out in the country. We will continue working towards raising the level of training for the servicemen of border troops, states the congratulatory message by the head of state.
