Registration of candidates and their meeting with electorate are actively continued in some districts under the work for preparation to organized elections of the Mejlis deputies and members of the People’s Councils of velayats, etraps, cities and Gengeshys planned on March 31, 2019. At present, the registered candidates receive the identification cards at relevant polling stations. It is mentioned that the candidates to the posts of national representatives in legislative body and local power authorities are given an important role in the implementation of fundamental changes and major programmes of development. The elections will be held in 124 election districts including the election of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in three districts, members of the People’s Council of Ashgabat in four districts, members of velayat, etrap and city members of the People’s Councils in 15 districts and members of Gengeshys in 102 districts. Meeting of the candidates with the electorate are continued. Representatives of political parties, labour collectives, civic groups take part in the meetings. During the event, the candidates introduce their election programmes and urged the electorate to participate actively in the elections. Authorized representatives of the candidates introduce the biography of the candidates to electorate. All candidates have equal rights and opportunities for familiarization of the voters with the election campaigns. During the meetings, the candidates answered the questions as well as assured the electorate that they would put all efforts for successful implementation of the Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for social and economic development of the country in 2019 – 2025.
