Last week, a meeting with the delegation of Turkish parliamentarians led by Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Jamil Çiçek was held in Mejlis of Turkmenistan. In the course of the meeting, the head of the brotherly country’s parliament was introduced to the main functions and tasks of the high legislative body of Turkmenistan, its members and areas of activity in the light of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov-initiated fundamental reforms in the legislative sphere, whose improvement is destined to accelerate the large-scale transformation programs of state development. As highlighted, the solid legal framework has been created by now in our country, which includes the main trends of world legislative practice. The ongoing work, along with signing and accession to the most important UN Conventions, directly promote successful integration of the Turkmen state into the global legal community. Elaborated and adopted legislative acts are aimed at successful tackling the tasks of political, economic, and social development of Turkmenistan, assigned by the leader of nation in the epoch of power and happiness. In the course of the meeting, consideration was given to priority areas and prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation aimed at progressive development of the Turkmen-Turkish interstate relations. As noted, the historical relations between the two fraternal peoples and dynamically developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey promote the mutually beneficial relations between our country’s Mejlis and Turkey’s legislative body. In this context, the parties stressed the significance of the Protocol on Cooperation signed between Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 2012, as well as successful work of the groups of friendship “Turkmenistan-Turkey” set up in the two countries’ parliaments.
