Last week’s Turkmen-Swiss business forum in Zurich was aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation, in particular, in the development of trade and economic relations, business contacts, as well as partnership in the scientific-technical field. Representatives of some sectoral ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and our country’s Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union took part in the meeting. For the Swiss part, a forum was attended by the representatives of state institutions and about 30 companies working in the oil, gas, electric engineering, building, architectural, machine-building and railway sectors, as well as in the fields of information technology, international freight traffic, and food industry. The discussions were mainly centered on such key issues, as: introduction of high technologies and equipment into the industries in Turkmenistan; and cooperation in the infrastructural and processing sectors. The extensive coverage to the issues and proposals was given in the course of the bilateral meetings. In particular, the talk was about new technological solutions and services in the fuel and energy complex, textile, building and food industries, scientific-applied researches, etc. In the forum’s framework, the get-acquainted visits were organized to some Swiss enterprises, including the “Burckhardt Compression” and “Sulzer Chemtech” Companies specializing in the oil and gas sector, “Walo Bertschinger” - in building motorways, railroads and underground structures, as well as to one of the leading European companies - “MAN Diesel and Turbo Schweiz AG” manufacturing the diesel engine-generator installations and other equipment. Turkmen specialists got acquainted with their processing lines, visited the scientific-research centers and laboratories, and exchanged commercial offers with the companies’ managers. The business forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the joint Switzerland-Russia-CIS Trade Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Zurich, and the Swiss capital’s mayor’s council.
