Last week, in the framework of the events timed to International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, an action was held near Bagabat settlement (Ak bugday etrap, Akhal velayat) on annihilating a large batch of drugs that was confiscated in the course of a series of successful special operations carried out jointly by the law-enforcement and defence agencies of Turkmenistan. The heads of security, defence and law enforcement establishments of Turkmenistan, representatives of the leading international organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the OSCE, as well as diplomatic representations and missions accredited to Turkmenistan, public organizations and mass media took participation in the action on liquidation of more than 200 kilograms of drugs. Prior to the action, its participants were shown the drugs packed in cellophane packages, bags of different sizes and the labelled parcels. Everyone was welcome to throw a package of the dangerous illicit good to the special incinerator. Thereupon, according to the established rules, the whole process of drugs destruction - from the very beginning to the end, was controlled by the officers of law-enforcement institutions and authorized experts.
